FAQ

What is community solar?

Community solar is a green energy option that brings the benefits of solar to renters, homeowners and other community members without the up-front costs of installing your own panels. Instead, solar panels are located at a nearby solar project. You, your friends, your neighbors and local businesses can enroll with Solar Landscape to receive discounted solar credits on your utility bill and support renewable energy in your community!

Why are there limited spaces?

Each solar project generates enough energy and community solar bill credits to match the energy usage of a set number of enrolled subscribers. Once a project is fully subscribed, it cannot take any more enrollments. If all projects are full, you will be put on a waiting list until new projects are built.

How does the program work?

Enroll once, and your electricity account will be linked to one of our Solar Landscape projects. It’s an easy way to save money on your electricity bills. Solar power goes from the solar project to the local utility grid, where it helps power your community with planet-friendly renewable energy. As a subscriber, you get a piece of the clean energy incentives in the form of solar credits that are applied to your electricity bill.

What are community solar credits?

Community solar credits reduce your electricity bill when you enroll in a community solar project.

Do I need to own my home or apartment to participate?

Nope! Renters and homeowners alike have access to community solar savings — no solar panel installation necessary!

Do I keep PSE&G as my utility provider?

Yes! There is no change or disruption to your electricity service. Your utility provider will remain the same and continue to send a monthly bill.

The only difference is, as a Solar Landscape customer, you’ll start receiving solar credits on your PSE&G electricity bill, with your 31% discount applied automatically. Exact savings will vary depending on your energy usage each month.

Do I need to install panels?

No, you don’t. The solar panels are all located at community solar projects across managed by Solar Landscape – not on your roof.

Are there any sign-up fees?

No, it’s FREE to enroll, with no upfront costs. If you choose to cancel for any reason, or move out of the eligible service area, there’s no fee to cancel.

Can I cancel if I change my mind?

Yes! If you wish to cancel for any reason, simply give 90 days notice and there are no cancellation fees. Please see your community solar agreement for additional terms and conditions.

How much can I save?

You will save at least 15% on the solar credits applied to your PSE&G electricity bill. That can really add up month after month, year after year! Exact savings will vary by month based on your energy usage.

How will I see my guaranteed savings?

Each month, customers will see their discounted solar credits applied directly to their PSE&G electricity bill. This means Solar Landscape customers receive only one consolidated bill from their utility that shows their dollar savings and 15% discount.

Where can I find my utility account number?

Your PSE&G account number can be found on the first page of your PSE&G bill and the top right of each subsequent page. If you do not have access to your bill, call PSE&G’s customer service at 1-800-436-7734 to request your account number.

Are you an electricity supplier (ESCO)?

No, we are a community solar developer, which is not the same as a third-party retail energy supplier. Instead, Solar Landscape provides solar electricity to the local utility grid, and you get a credit for the value of the solar electricity allocated to your utility account.
